Every winter, I’ve suffered from cracked fingers, chapped lips, and dry patches on my skin from the cold air. I’ve tried so many remedies and like balms and creams, but nothing has come close to my new favorite product: the Farmacy Honey Savior All-in-One Skin Repair Salve.
I was first interested in the brand Farmacy because it has the Clean at Sephora label, which means it is formulated without a list of over 50 ingredients, including sulfates (SLS and SLES), parabens, and phthalates, so it’s better for your skin and the environment. The top key ingredients, as you might be able to tell from the name of this product, are a Proprietary Honey Blend—Farmacy’s blend of honey and antioxidants meant to soothe and moisturize the skin—and Propolis and Royal Jelly, which contain amino acids. I can also read all of the other ingredients easily and understand what is in it, there are no chemicals with scary-sounding names.
Raw honey is known for its antibacterial properties and has been scientifically proven to soothe autoimmune skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis and heal wounds. I’ve always found that honey lip balms worked best for me, as my lips tend to be dry year-round.
Putting It to the Test
Along with dry lips, another ailment I was suffering from were splitting fingernails. My nails have been very weak lately and split when I try to grow them out. After I purchased this product and applied it to my lips and fingernails overnight, I noticed a difference immediately. My nails felt stronger, grew out longer and stopped peeling. I got a gel manicure and used my at-home gel removal method (whoops ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ), then applied the salve, and my nails felt strong and healthy again. And as of now, I have not had cracked skin around my nails (knock on wood).
When I first bought this, I thought the $34 price point was steep. Why pay $34 for a balm when you can get a tub of Vaseline for $2 or even the Glossier Balm Dotcom for $12? But I get it now. The natural ingredients, especially honey, are worth the extra money, compared to cheap, harmful additives like petroleum. Thank you, Farmacy, for saving my skin.
